Dinghy Sailing

CSC Adult Dinghy Organiser Joe Keenan describes below plans to get adults who have never sailed before out on the water.

We are planning to run adult dinghy sailing courses during June, July, and August. These courses are mainly designed as introductory courses for adults with no experience of sailing, who wish to learn sailing and boat handling skills but are also open to all adult sailors who wish to refresh previous skills or transfer their sailing skills from larger boats

The main subjects that will be addressed are wind awareness, sail trim, boat balance, boat manoeuvring, and safety. It is planned to have an experienced dinghy sailor with each student so that this course can be taught on a one-to-one basis on the water. There will be some theory to read beforehand which will be revised before each sailing lesson, but the main emphasis will be on the practical skills of safe boat handling.

The courses are planned for 4-5 weeks on Saturday mornings and afternoons during July, and Saturday afternoons during June and August.  This course will be open to both members and non-members of Cove Sailing Club. An initial interest can be registered with covesailingclub1919@gmail.com and further details regarding fees and registration will then be sent as they become available.
