29 May Titanic Trophy Race
The cruiser/racer season has arrived!
Friday night saw the Titanic Trophy Race in Cork Harbour. A nine boat fleet came out in very light airs to race a course set by the OOD just off the bar turn. The fleet was due to race in front of Cobh but the wind gods and commercial traffic were against us.Congratulations to all participants. There was a threat of rain which never quite materialised.
A big welcome goes out to the boats from the Navy Yacht Squadron who came out our apologies for the sun not coming out, and we hope to see more of you as the season continues.
After racing most boats headed back to East Ferry and the evening continued with the prize giving and BBQ at The Quays Bar in Cobh. Many thanks to Noel and the staff who pulled out all the stops and a great night was had byall. Our thanks must also be extended to Johanna Murphy the club PRO for the organisation of the evening and to SuperValu Cobh for the sponsoring of the prizes for the evening.
Racing was under our pH system and the results are as follows:
1st Brightwings Nick ORourkend
2nd Re Eile Damien Ahern
3rd Wader Jim Buckley
Thanks again for all who made the effort and we hope to see more boats out in the coming weeks as the season progresses.
