Cove Sailing Club is delighted to announce that both The Port of Cork and Union Chandlery have once again agreed to sponsor this years Cobh to Blackrock Race taking place on Saturday 6th September.
Starting at 13:00hrs off Cobh Promenade the race will continue along its traditional route passing Ringaskiddy, Monkstown, Passage, across Loch Mahon and along to the finish at Blackrock Castle.
All boats are then invited to continue up to the City Quays where complimentary overnight berthing will be provided by the Port of Cork at the Cork City Marina.
This year we are also very pleased to be able to invite competitors and their guests to the prize-giving at The Sextant which is just opposite the City Quays marina. A barbecue and home-made pizzas will be available at preferential prices for crews together with the Sextant’s huge range of top quality beer and wine. Later on in the evening The Sextant will be providing a DJ to keep crews entertained and for boats staying over tea/coffee will be served on the pontoon around 10AM on the Sunday & breakfast will be available in the Sextant from 10.30ish again at highly preferential rates for competitors. We can’t guarantee the weather but we are doing everything we can to ensure this years Blackrock race is the one not to miss.
As always, the race is free to enter and we will have all the usual prizes and some of the best trophies around for the winners. We would appreciate it if all boats/crews would come along to support the after race festivities and prize-giving. Cove Sailing Club together with its sponsors are putting a lot of time and effort in to making this as enjoyable as we can for all boats and crews so please help us to make this a successful day for everyone.
An ONLINE ENTRY FORM is available and ALL BOATS taking part in this years race must have submitted a completed entry form in order to ensure they get a result. The list of entries we’ve received is available at this link.
Please also keep an eye out for the NOTICE OF RACE and SAILING INSTRUCTIONS which will be published on our website shortly together with more details of the day as we get them.
