Cove Sailing Club has an aim to make sailing affordable for junior sailors. We are now looking for experienced Dinghy Instructors and a Senior Instructor for the Summer Season along with volunteers for our Saturday sailing sessions

Our sailing season runs each Saturday from the 6th May through the 2nd September with full time week long courses being held in July (2 weeks) and August (2 weeks).

Dinghy Sailing Instructor will teach junior beginners in a range of club dinghies Toppers, Topaz, Feva, Omega and Wayfarer. We expect you to be able to organise a group of young sailors, adapt to their skills and demonstrate an ability to teach on the water with a structured approach time on the water. Our Dinghy Instructors must comply with the ISA guidelines and have valid certificates as below

  • ISA qualified Dingy Instructor
  • Powerboat Certificate
  • VHF certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Health and Safety Certificate (not mandatory)
  • Be Garda Vetted by the ISA

 

Senior Instructor organises the sailing sessions in compliances with ISA guidelines, mentors the instructions and takes on instructor and junior sailor’s development as part of their routine. They agree the days sailing plan with the instructors and ensure that all safety requirements have been met. The Senior Instructor must comply with the ISA guidelines and have valid certificates as below

  • ISA qualified Senior Instructor
  • Powerboat Certificate
  • VHF certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Health and Safety Certificate (not mandatory)
  • Be Garda Vetted by the ISA

We are also looking for volunteers to assist with the on shore management of our Saturday sailing sessions for junior sailors (10 years and up). Volunteers in regular contact with juniors are also expected to be Garda Vetted

All instructors and volunteers will be expected to attend a pre-season orientation session to learn about

  • Club Safety procedures
  • Introduction to on and off the water activities and preparation for the days sailing
  • And become familiar with the clubs standard operating procedure
