Cruiser Racing Update – 5 weeks to go and counting…

The 2012 Race Calendar has just been updated with the names of the Race Officer for each race. Please review the list and make sure you are available and prepared for when it is your turn. If you are not available please arrange cover and notify the Sailing Secretary, Brendan Ryan as soon as you are aware. For any advice on courses, starting procedure etc., just ask Brendan, Pat Coakley (Assistant Sailing Secretary), or your class captains (Kevin O’Connor, Kites/Rob Keating, Whitesail). They are there to help you. We’ll also try and get some further advice up on the site as a reminder for what the Race Officer needs to do.

We’d like to remind skippers to send copies of their Echo/IRC certs to Brendan Ryan (brendan@covesailingclub.ie). All boats competing in any Cove Sailing Club events must provide copies of their valid certs. The ISA publish a master list of all certified Irish boats and so far we see 9 Cove boats so hopefully we’ve a few more to come yet. (It’s an interesting list though if you get a chance to look at it).

With the start of the season rapidly approaching we would like to hear from all skippers intending to take part in the May League this year. So far we have Jay, No Half Measures, Away on Business, and Serendipity. Please get in contact with the club if you are going to take part as we need at least 6 confirmed entries for the series to be run this year.

With a month to go all skippers and regular crew should pay their membership subs. for 2012 as soon as possible. The forms are on the website (see earlier posts). There will be a Junior Registration day on the 14/4 and you are welcome to drop down to the dinghy park and renew your membership as well if this is convenient.

Finally we’d like to wish the Cove boats and crews heading down to Kinsale YC for the April League a safe trip and all the best for the Series. (And watch out for the Killer Whales – if you don’t believe us click here.)
