Cove Dinghy Racing – New Midweek and Weekend Series Announced

Cove Sailing Club’s dinghy racing season kicks off at the weekend with the Brookland’s Cup.

To coincide with this race Cove Sailing Club is pleased to announce that it will run two separate dinghy leagues over the summer months.

A midweek series of races on Wednesday evenings (FG 19.00) and a weekend series which will also incorporate Cove’s historical “Named” dinghy races (the Brooklands Cup, The East Ferry Cup, Cove at Home, Cobh People’s Regatta, and the Ballinacurra Cup on Saturdays with Sunday racing (FG11.00) on the other weekends. You can compete in either or both series and separate individual results and overall league standings will be posted on our website after each round of races.

Please see full details on our Dinghy Racing Calendar (click here).

After the obvious disappointment of the postponement of the East Ferry Cup earlier in the season we are very hopeful that our new and improved dinghy racing Calendar will encourage a high level of interest and participation.

Please note that all participants in any dinghy races must complete and submit the dinghy racing entry form which is available to download below. Completed (and signed) forms must be submitted to a member of the Dinghy Race Committee prior to racing. Failure to submit your completed form will prevent you from getting a result.

If you would like to know more please contact the Dinghy Race Committee (Dave Doyle, Derry Allister, Brendan Ryan, Richard Marshall, Kieran Dorgan, Gareth Dorgan, Adrian Tyler or email info@covesailingclub.ie).

Any other club members able to get involved and help with OD duties, or provide general on-shore support (even as a once-off ) should also get in contact as this is a major commitment by Cove to strengthen the dinghy racing side of our club and any additional support we can get over the summer months would be gratefully received.
