13 Feb Racing Updates – 2012 Race Schedule, May League and other news

This years Racing Schedule is now available under the Racing heading and then select 2012 Race Schedule. We’ll update the OD list as soon as we know who will definitely be available for the start of the season.

The last couple of years the May League (Sunday) has struggled to get going with only a few boats making the first couple of races. It was agreed at the last AGM that we would need at least 6 confirmed entries or the May League would be cancelled this year.

We are very keen to keep this event going but we cannot realistically run races for 2-3 boats. Please get in contact with the club (info@covesailingclub.ie) if you are intending to take part this year.

Additionally please be aware that the Club has strengthened its cruiser racing team this year with the addition of Pat Coakley as Assistant Sailing Secretary, Kevin O’Connor as Class Captain for “Kites” and Robert Keating as Class Captain for “Whitesail”.

All three bring with them a huge amount of knowledge and experience and will be a great asset as the club continues to develop and enhance its racing program. They are also very approachable (really) and will help to ensure that all our skippers/members know everything they need to know about our events during the season.
